Brigit M. Carter, PhD, MSN, RN, CCRN
Brigit M. Carter, PhD, MSN, RN, CCRN, is an associate professor at the Duke University School of Nursing (DUSON) and teaches pediatrics and professional nursing. She is also the director of the DUSON Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program and project director of the HRSA-funded Nursing Workforce Diversity program at DUSON. She continues her clinical practice as a staff nurse in the Duke University Hospital Intensive Care Nursery. Dr. Carter has 28 years of U.S. Navy service and currently holds the rank of Commander in the U.S. Navy Reserves. Dr. Carter's current research focuses on nursing care of premature infants. She earned a BS degree in nursing from the North Carolina Central University, a MS in nursing education degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a PhD in nursing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
