Caroline Mae O. Ramirez, MD, MBA (Philippines)
Caroline Mae O. Ramirez, MD, MBA, is a public health leadership fellow at the Ateneo Center for Health Evidence, Action and Leadership in Manila, Philippines. As a clinician, researcher, and manager, this role placed her in a strategic position to directly impact the local health system. She led the investigation on mothers’ access to maternal care services after the devastation of Typhoon Haiyan in the second poorest region of the country. Developed jointly with the Philippine Department of Health and the World Health Organization, this study identified barriers to care and guided local policy and program implementation. With a passion for serving the marginalized and disadvantaged, Dr. Ramirez is a public health professional devoted to understanding and developing effective health systems in the Philippines. She currently works directly with local government in strengthening service delivery through human resource development. Dr. Ramirez received her MD degree and her MBA degree from the School of Medicine and Public Health of the Ateneo de Manila University.
